Me & Maeve Grace
Who we are
My name is Katrina and Maeve is my daughter and my little best friend. I launched this small, ethical mother and baby clothing company in 2019 which is based in London.
I had no idea how difficult motherhood would be, but also amazed by the love that I could feel for something so small and precious.
I took this as inspiration during our first moments together to create a brand so that you too could make your own magical memories together with your baby.
Maeve was just five months old when I had the idea for the label. She is now three and we are expecting another baby late in the spring.
How it all started
The idea of Me & Maeve Grace began when I was looking for outfits for a wedding in Greece.
I spent months doing research online and in high street stores for stylish matching clothing for us both but found nothing suitable.
I found that the quality of the fabrics were poor, they were too baggy or too tight or had terrible slogans on them.
I could not find anywhere that had designed mother and baby clothing with new mums in mind.
There was always something wrong or missing, and no one seemed to have taken into account the difficulty of breastfeeding or to make them flattering in the right places for new mums.
What makes us different?
I started this brand because of a gap I saw in the market I felt I could fill.
What I dreamt of for this brand goes beyond just matching clothing; the aim is to give new mums a way of expressing their special bond together.
There are plenty of outlets where you can buy matching clothing, but I wanted to create something incredibly special and different.
Our signature style is gorgeous hand-painted prints and we try to use the most sustainable fabrics & methods possible, working only with ethical factories.
How we create our bespoke designs
This is where the whole process begins as we search for fabrics that are both high quality and sustainable. It is a lot of fun but also very challenging because as a small business as we can be very limited in our choices and decisions.
We do not follow trends with our prints, as our aim is to ensure that your pieces will remain timeless. Our designs are hand-painted in the first instance, and then we look at colour themes and play with how they look in size and scale to make the perfect print pattern.
This is probably the most challenging phase. We want something that both looks fabulous and makes you feel special. We look at making them both breast-feeding and bump friendly, as well as flattering in the right places. For little ones we think about ease of nappy changes and making sure, they are as comfortable and practical as possible.
